Rafael Tena Castro

Rafael is the founding partner of Tena Abogados, S.C. He has nearly 20 years of professional experience handling contentious and non-contentious matters in tax, administrative, social security, and constitutional law.

He has developed his professional practice as an advisor to both national and international companies operating in Mexico, as well as Mexican companies operating abroad. His practice also includes handling tax audits, conclusive agreements, and all types of non-contentious proceedings before tax authorities. Additionally, he has successfully represented national and international clients in numerous complex tax litigation cases before federal and local courts.

Before founding Tena Abogados, S.C., Rafael was a partner at Acedo Santamarina, S.C., a firm where he established the tax department and where he was a partner for over a decade. He was also a senior associate in the tax area at Barrera, Siqueiros y Torres Landa, S.C. (now Hogan Lovells), and worked at Ojeda & Asali, S.C. (now Bufete Asali, S.C.), where he gained experience in civil, commercial, and administrative litigation.

He has an extensive academic background and is the author of various articles and chapters published in both national and international specialized books and journals. He was the coordinator and co-author of the book “El juicio de amparo en materia fiscal,” published by Tirant lo Blanch.

He is a member of the Tax Law Commission of the Mexican Bar Association, A.C., and an associate of the Mexican Council on Foreign Affairs (COMEXI).
